BACKGROUND

Eco-Woods Farm is located at Kinyamaseke along Mpondwe-Lhubiriha road. Agritourism in Uganda is quickly picking up and it’s simply the mixture of Agriculture and tourism. It involves any agricultural based operation or activity that brings visitors to a Farmer.

At Eco Woods the Agritourism shall present a unique opportunity to combine aspects of tourism and agriculture activities to provide a number of financial, educational, and social benefits to tourists, producers, and communities. Agritourism shall give Eco Woods an opportunity to generate additional income and an avenue for direct marketing to consumers. It shall enhance the tourism industry by increasing the volume of visitors to an area and the length of their stay.

Agritourism also shall provide communities with the potential to increase their local tax base and new employment opportunities. Additionally, Agritourism shall provide educational opportunities to the public, help to preserve agricultural lands, fruit trees and other wildlife and allow participants to develop business enterprises.

Eco Woods Farm as a private enterprise will improve the quality of economic activity in rural areas through Agriculture and EcoTourism.

The Eco Woods is currently looking into all kinds of diversifying options such as livestock, crops, forestry; renewable energy and rural tourism.

AGROTOURISM ACTIVITIES

One of our main goals as an Agribusiness venture is to become self-sustaining, therefore as a way of generating more revenue at the Farmer, we are establishing Fish Farming, Black soldier fly Larvae production, a Poultry unit, Fruits and vegetables growing, Bio Technology, and producing foods for our visitors and wider market.

ACCOMMODATION AT ECO-WOODS

The Eco-Woods Farm is putting up comfortable cottages for accommodation and a camping ground for the outdoor enthusiastic visitors who decide to spend a night or days at the Farm. Whether you are alone or with friends, you will have a good sleep at the Farm

TASKS

Management is seeking to recruit volunteers to be based at ECOWOODS FARM to work in the fields of Fish farming, vegetable growing, Poultry farming and Black Soldier Fly farming. These opportunities are challenging yet very rewarding and will be an unforgettable experience for the chosen candidate.

Our target beneficiaries are people living in poverty struggling to earn enough to ensure that their families have enough to eat, get adequate health care and an education for their children.

Our programs aim to give the disadvantaged people the opportunity to ensure they are able to earn a sustainable living, helping them to learn new skills, improve the productivity and set up small businesses to generate more income for household support.
